The United States Geological Survey reported in March that the U.S. was the world’s biggest producer of aluminum ore, and that aluminum ore accounted for about 10 percent of the world production in 2016.
Aluminum ore is mined from the Bering Sea and is processed into bars, which can then be used in making aluminum, steel, glass, plastics and other products.
In recent years, the U,S.
has experienced a resurgence in its production of aluminum.
The United Nations International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a report last year that the aluminum production in the United States has increased by 20 percent since 2015.
The IEA report noted that the United Kingdom and Germany were the biggest exporters of aluminum in the world.
In 2016, the IEA reported that the world produced 9 billion metric tons of aluminum, which was more than the entire U.N. supply.
That’s an increase of about 10.6 percent over 2015.
